The new wardrobe of OCNE will be made by an ACME designer

A competition is called among designers of the Association to create the new menswear wardrobe of the Orchestra and the equipment for the men and women who make up the Choir. This collaboration will encourage the promotion and broadcasting of music in conjunction with other creative industries such as fashion.

With the launch of this competition, the National Orchestra and Choir of Spain (OCNE) seeks to place value upon its prestige associated with innovation and vanguard. To do this they will rely on the creativity of the leading fashion brands that make up the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), having extensive experience in designing costumes for uniformities and the performing arts.

Thanks to the agreement signed in February 2014 between ACME and the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), institute which includes the National Orchestra and Choir of Spain, united once again are two important sectors of the national culture: fashion and music.

The main objective of this union is renewal, a challenge for the designers of ACME who, with their ideas and creativity, will contribute in an original manner to shape a contemporary image of the wardrobe of the teachers of the National Orchestra and the members of the Chorus. The design of the new fashion kit will also meet important premises for musicians and singers such as elegance, versatility and practicality.

This project arises from the alliance of two organizations that share an end, the pursuit of cultural excellence. The three winning designs will be chosen by a committee of experts, which will consist of members of the National Orchestra and Choir of Spain, as well as professionals from the world of fashion.

The direction of OCNE, after hearing the Jury, will be the ones to choose the creations that will dress-up their components. This decision will be made public during the month of January 2017. The chosen brand will be in charge of the designs and also of monitoring the whole process of making the new costumes.[:]
