Travel in time and distance

17/09/2017

MARÍA ESCOTÉ was in charge of opening the third day of fashion shows of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid for the ACME designers. The Catalan creator proposes a trip to the aesthetics of the 80s and 90s with a clear reference: Diana of Wales. Her tartan suits, long jackets and white shirts inspire Escoté’s creations in a style lesson addressed to those women who make their wardrobe their most powerful weapon.

MAYA HANSEN transports us to the 90’s in an original crossing aboard the Blue Vendela. The fun sailing boat that names the collection leads to the mythical covers of Sport Illustrated magazine and the image of the top models of the decade. Swimsuits and tops that are filled with funny sailor prints, sexy silhouettes with short trousers, and their well-known corsets, are the key to a collection in which jeans are the featured fabric.

JUAN VIDAL takes us to an idyllic trip to Hawaii with Lula Rock-A-Hula, a collection full of exoticism. The desire for evasion is a constant in the versatile and fresh creations of the designer from Alicante for spring-summer 2018. Applications of raffia, inspired by the skirts of hula dancers, tropical prints and the famous flowers lei hanging from the neck are the keys of an emotional and seductive proposal.

The Okies, the emigrants who fled from Oklahoma to California during the Great Depression, inspire JUANA MARTÍN. The prints and the color of the collection seek to recreate the landscapes of Route 66. The designer moves the struggle, tenacity and survival instict of this group to very luminous garments loaded with personality. Studs, glass, feathers and chains decorate each costume in an artisan manner.

CUSTO BARCELONA presents “Call me tomorrow” a collection that glances towards the future. The Catalan brand experiments with the use of technological materials, but without losing sight of crafted techniques. This blend between tradition and innovation results in an advanced fashion proposal, full of risky combinations in which the play between contrasts and textures are protagonists.
