The MODAPORTUGAL initiative, promoted by CENIT in association with ANIVEC, APICCAPS and MODALISBOA, brought together in Porto the best European fashion and footwear design schools from 11th to 13th December.
The Porto MODAPORTUGAL Fashion Design Competition was participated by 33 young designers from fashion and footwear design schools from eight European countries.
AMD München (Germany), La Cambre (Belgium), IED (Spain), Polimoda and Arsutoria (Italy), Esmod (France), Tomás Bata (Czech Republic), London College of Fashion (United Kingdom) and ESAD, FA_ULISBOA, Modatex Porto, Academy of Design and Calçado and Lisbon School of Design (Portugal), selected their best students to compete in this contest.
Spanish designer Pilar Dalbat was part of the international jury in charge of choosing the winners of this important prize for new creators endowed with € 5,000, of which the winners proclaimed were Cyril Bourez (Best fashion collection) from Belgium and Daniel Gonçalves (Best general footwear collection) from Portugal.
The jury wanted to reward the originality and the workmanship of the collections in a contest in which the work of the best students from each participating country is also acknowledged. Concepción Martínez (möh) and James Harmakis, from IED School from Spain, proclaimed themselves winners of the 'Best Fashion Collection' and 'Best Footwear Collection', respectively among the Spanish contestants.
The event also had a diversified program that included student visits to some of the most innovative Portuguese companies in the textile and footwear sector, a unique experience to get in touch and get to know the industrial market of Portugal.
A complete program that was completed with the international conference Design & Sourcing in Europe, which included the participation of a prestigious panel of global speakers, and the Showcase MODAPORTUGAL, a fashion brands and designers and footwear exhibit held at the Palacio de la Bolsa of Porto.
