Within the Madrid es Moda activities calendar, designer María Lafuente presented her spring / summer 2019 collection with sustainable fabrics intervened by painter César Barrio, in which colour and textures are the main features.
Nature, and in this case mythology, is present again in her proposal through forest nymphs, sustainable and vindicating. Nymphs dressed in Textil Santanderina fabrics (certified by PEFC), who join up with the designer from León to create a collection with Tencel fabric, among others. Additionally, included were pieces with tire recycling that give it a unique character (SIGNUS).
Some of the items in this collection will be exhibited shortly at the United Nations headquarters in New York, as Maria Lafuente has been elected a representative of sustainable fashion at the UN and will be the first designer in history to give a speech at the high level politician Forum (FPAN) on the UN’s Sustainable Development, accompanied by Ana Belén Noriega, General Secretary of PEFC Spain. Ground breaking news received by the designer with great emotion, since sustainability and ethical values are present in each of her fashion proposals.
María Lafuente, a professional with a long career in the sector, combines the creation of her collections with collaborations for film costumes and uniform design, such as the Spanish delegation of the Spanish Olympic Committee Madrid 2020. Cities such as Warsaw, Montevideo, Bucharest or Tokyo have seen fashion shows of her designs.
