Madrid Capital de Moda brings together fashion designers and floral artists

28/09/2022

Madrid Capital de Moda, an initiative of Madrid City Council, launches ‘Urban Poetry’. This project, promoted together with JCDecaux and Madrid es Moda, unites fashion designers with artists from different disciplines to promote Spanish author fashion and value the city’s creative talents.

With ‘Urban poetry’, Madrid City Council intends to give visibility to creative talents, often unknown to the general public, who live and develop their creativity in the Spanish capital. The first artistic installation, which has received the name of ‘Urban floral poetry’, brings together fashion designers Carlota Barrera, Leandro Cano, Moisés Nieto and Oteyza with floral artists Carlos de Troya, Margarita se llama mi amor, Elena Suarez & Co. and Florale. Together they have created four artistic proposals that convey a poetic message based on the language of flowers and fashion.

The result of this synergy between creators can be seen when Calle Serrano meets Plaza de la Independencia, until October 7th due to the collaboration between JCDecaux, Madrid es Moda and Madrid City Council, within the project Madrid Capital de Moda.

This installation is showcased in urban cabinets by JCDecaux, and also allows access, by means of a QR code, to videos where designers and florists recount in first person the project’s concept, the flowers used and their meaning, as well as the conservation processes to be able to have the flowers exhibited for a week in the street.

September is the fashion month par excellence in the capital, so this project joins the different initiatives activated by Madrid City Council due to the celebration of Fashion Week. This activity is also included in the agenda of Madrid es Moda, which extends its calendar to host different activities that will take place in the capital throughout the year with author fashion as the protagonist.

‘Urban poetry’ begins its activity with this floral theme and will continue throughout 2023 with five more projects that will be shown in the street showcased in urban cabinets by JCDecaux, an essential collaborator of the initiative. Each project will have a different theme and will show the collaboration between fashion designers and other great craftsmanship creative disciplines.
