Jewelry with a Canary soul

Designer Helena Rohner led an intensive workshop focusing on the soft wax modeling technique with eight Canary Islands jewelry artisans. Over two days, the participants explored shapes inspired by the archipelago's native flora with the goal of creating contemporary jewelry for bridal occasions.

This initiative, promoted by FEDAC (National Institute of Agricultural and Forestry) and supported by the Department of Industry of the Gran Canaria Island Council, seeks to promote excellence and innovation in local craftsmanship, generating new synergies between tradition and contemporary design.

The pieces resulting from this collaboration were presented at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Bridal Fashion Week, held in mid-July at the Hotel Santa Catalina. Being an opportunity to give visibility to the islands' artisanal talent in an internationally renowned showcase.

“The beauty of the Canary Islands' nature, and the delicacy of artisanal hands have been the soul of this workshop,” stated Helena Rohner, who accompanied the jewelers throughout the creative process. The workshop images were taken by Modesto Lomba.
