Contained light

Fashion brand Devota & Lomba, under the creative direction of Modesto Lomba, presented at Madrid es Moda its Spring-Summer 2026 collection at the National Archaeological Museum. Inspired by Sorolla's summers, the collection unfolds an exercise in contrasts between limit and liberation, between oppression and openness, as if light and shadow conversed in a single gesture. The choice of space underlined this reflection: a place that preserves historical memory to project it onto the present.

The creative discourse is constructed from volumetric forms crafted with gathers that tighten and release the fabric, generating a choreography of inseparable opposites. Soft and light gingham cottons are combined with plain linens and silks in monochrome tones, providing simplicity and freshness. The color palette finds its common thread in blue, evoking the sea, the sky, and the Mediterranean horizon. The look is completed with Sancosmeiro rye straw hats, handcrafted at Vimianzo Castle, along with leather loafers and handbags signed by the fashion house.

A collection that dwells in the dialectic of form and atmosphere, constructed from the memory of painting and craftsmanship, and projected toward a serene modernity.
