A NEW EDITION OF MADRID ES MODA TAKES OFF

 

Madrid es Moda, an initiative led by ACME under the umbrella of Madrid City Council’s fashion initiative Madrid Capital de Moda, opens a new edition bringing the best of Spanish designer fashion to the centre of Madrid. The Serrería Belga, located in the Barrio de Las Letras, has been the chosen setting to celebrate the recreation of a ballroom.

Taking as inspiration the New York voguing competitions of the 80’s, 15 performers dressed by Moisés Nieto, Brain & Beast, Maison Mesa, Beatriz Peñalver and JC Pajares, with accessories by Anton Heunis and footwear by AFT-R, took to the stage to celebrate the start of Madrid Fashion Week. Mía Daniela Revlon, Koko, Charlie6 and Pukas Visori are some of the artists who participated in the five categories of said performance inspired by the ballroom scene, one for each designer: Runway, Hands Performance, Old Way/Posing, Face and Vogue Femme.

Presented by Silvi ManneQueen, the Spanish Fashion Ballroom also featured Elmer as commentator and Putochinomaricón as DJ. The jury was made up of actresses Topacio Fresh and Penélope Guerrero along with artists from the Parisian ballroom scene Keiona Revlon and Matyouz Ladurée, , dressed in looks from signature fashion brands, such as Mans, or young designer María Ávila, in an appointment that brings together the Spanish fashion community, and where other prominent Spanish designers were also present.

A festive event open to the public in which Madrid es Moda continues to bring fashion to the street in a different and performance manner, celebrating plurality, creativity and expressiveness, values ​​represented by author fashion as well as the project Madrid es Moda.

This action enjoys Visa’s support, a technological company leader in digital payments, which offers fashion designers digital payment solutions based on QR codes and payment gateways to allow the public immediate and autonomous accessibility to purchase the garments. This collaboration will also extend throughout the entire fashion week with a special set up at Hotel Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía, where the public will be able to access and purchase said selection of garments from a window shop on Gran Vía thanks to this payment solution by Visa.

The performance also enjoyed the collaboration of VIVO Diagnostic, to ensure the safety of all participants.

Thus, Madrid es Moda takes off Madrid Fashion Week, completing the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid fashion shows schedule. From September 14th to 21st, Madrid es Moda will continue to promote the knowledge and consumption of Spanish designer fashion through original events aimed at the final consumer and held in special enclaves in Madrid.

In addition to the ball, MeM also highlights the opening of a collective showroom in the Serrería Belga (Alameda, 15), promoted thanks to the support of Madrid City Council through the Madrid Capital de Moda platform, and the Government Area of ​​Culture, Tourism and Sports. An avant-garde and unique space in Spain where by appointment, the public will be able to see close up, together with a team of stylists, the fall / winter 2021-22 collections of the participating brands in a “phygital” format.

The program will be completed by the designers fashion presentations organized in special places in Madrid, and MeM Pro, the main novelty of this edition, created to be an encounter, exchange and training meeting point for professionals in the sector.
