Exceptional runways in unique scenarios

Spanish design is the outstanding protagonist during these first days of the month of July, filled with fashion shows on occasion of the celebration of the 70th edition of MBFWMIfema welcomes these days our country’s leading fashion runway, but outside of the trade show venue, in other environments, museums, libraries, hotels and restaurants, in unique scenarios, fashion is also taken in and enjoyed.

This is the meaning of Madrid es Moda, that fashion steps out on the street, departing from its usual context, during Madrid’s fashion week. An objective also shared by designers Beatriz PeñalverMaya HansenLeyre Valiente, Mónica Berlanas and artists Lara Padilla and Enrique Ochoa. They have chosen to present their collections in a different way converting singular spaces and environments in the capital city into their particular runways and exhibitions.

Exceptional runways such as the one organized by Beatriz Peñalver in the Eugenio Trías Library in the Retiro Park to showcase her FW19 "Nómada" collection until July 14th, Inspired by the Tuaregs, the designer from Granada’s proposal takes us to the desert through her creations with textures and handcrafted references, and earthy, orange and copper tones as the main protagonists.

In designer Maya Hansen’s case, the space chosen to show some pieces from her new collection SS20 "Arty Globetrotter", is Xperience Madrid, a leisure reference specialized in the traveling culture. Specifically, the figure of the traveller, the globetrotter who collects materials and techniques from different cultures, has been her source of inspiration to create this proposal. It may be visited until July 10th.

And finally, Madrid’s hotels with charm always play a fundamental role in MeM, housing small fashion museums in some of their most special corners. The NH Collection Madrid Abascal Hotel has hosted until July 14th several iconic pieces from the collections by young designer Leyre Valiente, in dialogue with her famous bridal dresses. Black and white designs that represent strength and calmness.

The Lobby Art Gallery of the emblematic Hotel Emperador de la Gran Vía exhibits a show, performance and showcase by artist Lara Padilla. The pieces on display are from the new Mrs. D collection and portray the power and beauty of the female figure. They can be admired until July 14th.

And designer Mónica Berlanas will also fill the recently refurbished Gran Hotel Ingles with art and fashion during these dates with a sample of costumes, and the “Ochoa y La Moda” exhibition by painter Enrique Ochoa, also called the painter of women for his elegant portraits of women in the 20’s and 30’s.
