The activities of La Latina Fashion Weekend during this weekend mark the start of the VIIth edition of MADRID es MODA. Fashion has invaded the streets of this authentic Madrid hood with an urban fashion show by signature label Maison Mesa, who toured the streets that make up the heart of La Latina to the rhythm of the applause of a considerable number of attendees.
More than 30 models walked the runway with singer Charo Reina, one of the designer's muses, with the creations of the new Spring Summer 2019 NRG collection. A work that speaks about pure forms and simple geometries that drape on the body textile materials such as cottons, silks and tulles. His garments, created with materials of great purity like gold, coral or amber in the hand-made embroidery, caused a great ovation from the public that was present in the urban runway of almost 750 meters, created for the occasion.
The children were the protagonists of the second day of this initiative, with the celebration of a workshop design school at the door of the Museum of San Isidro, where the youngest could develop their creativity under the hand of the team of Maison Mesa, colouring, drawing and making fashion collages. The designer’s Master Class, an introduction to the world of fashion, put the final touch of the day with explanations about the meaning of the concepts of fast fashion, prêt-à-porter and haute couture, highlighting the importance of fashion and its power and influence in the course of history.
The weekend ended with a gastro-fashion route around all the shops in the area, designing a special “tapa” inspired by the collection presented in the fashion show, which could be tasted during the last day.
The second edition of La Latina Fashion Weekend, organized by the Association of Entrepreneurs of La Latina (ADELA) and the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), with the support of the Madrid Fashion Capital, a brand of Madrid City Council, has as an objective to bring fashion culture to the street and to families, creating a synergy between industry, services, art and urban life.
