Just in! the winners of our window shop contest

IBEROSTAR Las Letras Gran Vía Hotel hosted today the awards ceremony of the IIIrd Window Shop Contest of the festival MADRID ES MODA, an initiative by the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) that highlights the relevance of the fashion exhibit space par excellence, the shop window. This contest has the collaboration of the Community of Madrid, the City of Madrid and Madrid Capital of Fashion, the mannequin brand Marcelo Vilá and IKEA.

The event was attended by Concha Díaz de Villegas, General Director of Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Madrid City Council; Augusto Guardiola, Director of Corporate Development at Marcelo Vilá; David Novo, from the interior design department of IKEA, and Modesto Lomba, President of ACME, among others.

Students from the best fashion and design schools in Madrid (Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda de Madrid, ESME, IED Madrid, ESNE and Nebrija University) are the protagonists of the novel category of the contest. In this edition, students Olivia Segu, Laura Fernández and Manuel Luis Macías, from ESNE, have won MADRID ES MODA’s Best Novel Shop Window Award (which includes a diploma, €500 and a mannequin from Marcelo Vilá). The montage was carried out in the emblematic store of Capas Seseña in Calle de la Cruz.

From ESNE they wanted to highlight the significant collaboration and involvement by Capas Seseña in the project. "We want to thank you for trusting our creative madness to transform your mythical product into a cape for superheroes for a few days. For us it was clear because, who has not wanted to be a superhero sometime in his life?".

For the college students, "it has been a unique opportunity to work with Capas Seseña, Calzados Franjul and Ulises Mérida, great references of Spanish design. It is the first time that we have been able to execute a project professionally and it has been incredible ".

And as it happens this college debuted in our window shop contest. "It has been a great opportunity because we have brought together craft and design with new generations in the sector," they stated.

The winner of the prize for Best Professional Shop Window Award was designer Jorge Vázquez, with a spectacular montage at the Gastón and Daniela store in Calle Velázquez. Concepción Díaz de Villegas, General Director of Commerce and Entrepreneurship of the City Council of Madrid, has been in charge of delivering the prize, consisting of an accrediting diploma, €1,000 and a mannequin by Marcelo Vilá.

For Jorge Vázquez, "all recognition is a positive reaffirmation of one's work, and if it is granted by your own sector, it is a double recognition".

The Galician designer is one of the usual names of MADRID ES MODA. "Fashion is made to be dressed and consumed, and this festival is a fantastic way to get fashion out on the street. We should all do MADRID ES MODA".
