With the aim of raising awareness regarding breast cancer, as well as supporting its prevention and research, Gran Canaria Moda Cálida’s Swimwear Week takes off with a solidarity fashion show. Under the slogan “We Swim Together”, and due to the occasion of International Breast Cancer Day, the ExpoMeloneras venue in Maspalomas hosted this charity event within the framework of special activities of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida. The event, organized by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, counted with the co-organization of IFEMA MADRID, which aims with this initiative - which is being carried out for the first time-, to highlight the firms and collections which adapt to the physical consequences of breast cancer.

This fashion show, patronized from the front row by designer Ana Locking, aims to launch a positive message that serves to reinforce the commitment to research and prevention of this disease. Therefore, all proceeds from the tickets sales will go to the Asociación Española Contra el Cancer (AECC) and the Asociación Canaria contra el Cáncer de Mama y Ginecológico.

Women who have gone through this disease have been the protagonists and exceptional models in said fashion show, where a selection of designs from prestigious firms that have had their collections adapted to the needs of those who have suffered breast cancer have been showcased. Designers from the Canary Islands Aurelia Gil, Román Peralta, Nuria González, Arcadio Domínguez, Carlos San Juan, Elena Morales and Como la Trucha al Trucho, as well as other Spanish fashion brands such as Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Dolores Cortés, Bohodot, Red Point or All That She Loves, as well as the creations of brands that are specialized in swimwear for mastectomized women such as Anita Care, Amoena Sunflair and Maryan Melhorn.

Additionally, on occasion of this fashion show, creator Arcadio Domínguez has launched a special solidarity edition of his well-known "Arcadinas", which will be sold through his online store during Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida for the benefit of the Spanish Asociación Española del Cáncer de Mama Canarias and for the Asociación Canaria de Cáncer de Mama y Ginecológico.
