IED Madrid appoints Moisés Nieto as the fashion school’s new Director. The designer from Jaén studied at this institution, a training he completed by doing internships in the studio of creator Antonio Alvarado. In 2011 he founded his own brand, in which he fuses crafts with the most avant-garde design and youth culture, firmly committed to sustainability and Made in Spain.
Since beginning his fashion career, he has received numerous awards. Moises Nieto’s first collection was recognized with the My Own Show prize, an award granted by Vogue Italia and the Valentino Group. In 2012, he won the L’Oreal Prize for the Best EGO Collection. In 2013, he was finalist in the Mango Fashion Awards and he debuted in the official fashion show schedule of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. In 2014 Moisés Nieto joined ACME, becoming one of the youngest members of the organization. Two years later, he won the country’s most important new talent award, proclaiming himself winner of Vogue Who’s On Next. Moises Nieto’s creative and artistic fashion proposals receive definitive backing with the National Fashion Award, in the “New Value” category, in 2017. Today, in addition to many bespoke projects, his fashion brand is sold globally in prestigious concept stores such as Opening Ceremony in Tokyo and Osaka.
IED is one of the worldwide most innovative study centres in the field of design and, since 1966, has trained more than 120,000 students in different disciplines. The Italian group, founded by Francesco Morelli, is characterized by providing a global and international vision of design, through methodologies that promote innovation as well as carrying out projects in collaboration with companies.
IED began its trajectory in Spain in 1994 when the headquarters were opened in Madrid and, eight years later, in 2002, the Barcelona headquarters were inaugurated. These two centres have trained more than 40,000 students from more than 100 different nationalities in the last 24 years. Its educational commitment has focused on offering training programs linked to local and global companies as well as official institutions, such as ACME, which has its own Chair in IED since 2017.[:]
