PILAR DALBAT has been narrating stories about Granada for more than two decades, thus highlighting its heritage in Spain as well as abroad. Known in the fashion world as “LA GRANADINA” the designer is a contemporary ambassador of Andalusian craftsmanship and traditions and is considered a reference in the world of fashion design.
The “GRACIA 12” collection, presented last February at Madrid Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week, highlights the connection of Eugenia de Montijo and Pilar Dalbat with Granada, Paris and fashion. The garments are a tribute from the fashion designer to the historical female figure, both from Granada, claiming her as a new cultural reference for their hometown.
This exhibit showcases Eugenia de Montijo from the personal point of view of the creator Pilar Torrecillas, from Granada, who reinterprets her character, her adventures and the clothes that accompanied her to offer us the story in a "fashion" keynote.
On May 9th, the opening of PILAR DALBAT's first monographic exhibit took place, which with the support of the Caja Rural de Granada Foundation lit up the iconic ZAIDA room. The main objective being to bring the historical character closer to the citizens of Granada claiming her as a new female cultural reference for the fashion designer’s hometown. The exhibit also enjoyed the support of the Provincial Council of Granada and the city’s Tourist Board.
For “Gracia 12” the designer has developed a prêt-a-couture collection that brings together all the iconic symbols, artisanal techniques and emblematic silhouettes of her house and that revolve around the figure of the legendary Eugenia de Montijo.
The exhibit showcases a selection of 15 looks and more than 100 items related to the collection. The garments are accompanied by sketches, photos, texts and objects that bring us closer to the historical personality and explores her life.
