Designer Leyre Valiente and architect Mar\u00eda de Prado have become the first winners of the MADRID ES MODA Window Shop Competition<\/a>, in the category of Best Professional Window Shop, with their proposal in the Valiente boutique. As Best Novel Window Shop, the winners are Mariana Galbis and Eider Falc\u00f3n, IED Madrid students who developed their idea for Teresa Helbig at Hotel de las Letras<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

“In the previous editions I have always participated with window shops, but in this edition I was a little overtaken by the circumstances,” says Leyre Valiente. “The fact is that Mar\u00eda de Prado, an architect who has collaborated in the set-up for my MBFWM fashion shows, sent me a whatsapp in which she told me that she was working with crystallography … I could not believe it, because precisely my collection was inspired by this topic! And I suggested to collaborate in the window shop “.<\/p>\n

\"ESCAPARATE<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 LEYRE VALIENTE WINDOW SHOP<\/p>\n

The window shop recreates, precisely, a page of an ancient scientific book. “On the left you can see a composition created with pieces printed in 3D and sticks representing molecules of crystallization; to the right we have examples of illustrations of glass prisms with the word fig suspended in different planes of the window. And in the centre we would have the largest or most important crystal of the page, which in this case is replaced by the dress.\u201d describes the designer.<\/p>\n

“We can\u2019t believe it, we did not think it was possible for us to win competing with brands with such a relevant trajectory and resources, it has been a wonderful surprise,” she confesses. Under the terms, Valiente and De Prado will share a prize consisting of a diploma, \u20ac 1,000 and a mannequin by Marcelo Vil\u00e1<\/a>. “The mannequin is a great present and I will be really fab to continue creating … the mannequins I have now in the atelier are not very good, nothing to do with the product of Marcelo Vil\u00e1,” she says.<\/p>\n

Best Novel Window Shop<\/strong><\/p>\n

For her part, Mariana Galbis, from the winning team of Best Novel Window Shop for their proposal for Teresa Helbig, said that the Catalan creator asked for a window shop that symbolized the craftsmanship and the exclusivity of her designs: “Hence, we chose natural materials such as wood, flowers and rocks, in a simple showcase that would allow the exposed garment to stand out. ”<\/p>\n

The window shop of Galbis and Falcon is one of eight presented by IED Madrid<\/a><\/strong> students at the Hotel de las Letras. “The creative process was complicated in part by the trees that we had to cut down (evidently they were samples that interrupted the growth of others and it was absolutely necessary to cut them down),” she confesses. “Another complicated part was to build the base of the showcase to measure, so that the trees were not dangerous when raising them … Overall it has been complicated but satisfying, and at the same time fun as it is a new experience.”<\/p>\n

“The special window shops have been one of the pillars upon which we have built MADRID ES MODA”, explained Pepa Bueno, Executive Director of the Asociaci\u00f3n de Creadores de Moda de Espa\u00f1a (ACME), “a stake to which we wish to give projection and value through this contest. ” Bueno has been part of the jury of the Best Professional Window Shop, along with Mar\u00eda Concepci\u00f3n D\u00edaz de Villegas, Director General of Trade and Entrepreneurship of the City of Madrid; Eduardo Vega-Penichet, Director of Acotex, and Elena Vilabrille, IED Madrid teacher.<\/p>\n

The jury of the Best Novel Window Shop was formed by Tamara Alcalde, Communication Desk of ACME; Marta L\u00f3pez, Communication Officer of Marcelo Vil\u00e1; Toni Gasa, Communication Director of Las Rozas Village, and designer Miguel Cruz-Faber.<\/p>\n
