Mallorca Design Day celebrated its fourth edition from March 22nd to 24th, a meet-up that enjoyed the collaboration of ACME with the participation of Modesto Lomba, Ulises Mérida and María Lafuente in the jury that granted the national award. TV host and model María José Suarez conducted a final gala in which the projects by Laia Muntal, national award, and Paula Escario, Balearic award, were distinguished.
The collection by Catalan designer Laia Muntal won the national award in the IV edition of Mallorca Design Day. The "MUBA" collection is based on the concept of creating contemporary, functional and timeless fashion, applying local and circular economy while making use of recycled and biodegradable materials.
The Majorcan designer Paula Escario was the awardee in the Balearic category with the “Coraza nº9” collection. Under this edition’s theme, "post-covid creativity", the designer recreated herself in contemplating upon the power of the mind as well as the importance of taking care of thoughts as "a door to the soul".
The jury, chaired by Modesto Lomba, president of ACME, valued the creativity, the risk sustained regarding differentiation and the fashion collection’s sustainability, which was made with recycled materials such as tulle from old discarded wire houses.
