This morning the report “Spanish fashion design, in numbers” promoted by ACME was presented. In 2023, Spanish designer fashion remained on the rise with an 8.4% increase in its turnover. Spanish fashion design completes its recovery. Author fashion, which had a turnover of 977 million euros during last year, exceeds the figures prior to the pandemic outbreak after three consecutive years with over 8% growth in all ACME's Associated firms.
This edition of the report reflects that the digital channel continues to gain weight in the market, becoming one of the main drivers of the industry's development. ACME member companies recorded sales amounting to 177.5 million euros through e-commerce in 2023, representing an increase of almost 20% compared to the previous year, and which already accounts for an 18.4% share of their total turnover.
In the last financial year, and contradicting the trend of previous years, the local market has regained ground regarding sales of author fashion, reaching 62.2% of the market share. In a year marked by increased turnover, however, international operations have experienced a slight decline. The sector's turnover beyond Spain's borders in 2023 stood at 366 million euros, representing the third best figure in the historical series.
ACME's report, which has the support of the Community of Madrid, the Government Area of Economy, Innovation and Finance of Madrid City Council and the collaboration of Modaes, aims to be a tool focused on contributing to the knowledge of the sector's main economic data.
