The official calendar of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid begins outside IFEMA’s facilities taking the presentations of the designers' collections to unique places in the city. In this first day of Madrid’s fashion week the proposals of Pilar Dalbat, Oteyza and Schlesser have been seen.
The courtyard of the neomudejar building of the 19th century Casa Árabe, in the heart of Madrid, has been the setting chosen by designer PILAR DALBAT to celebrate a 'silent' fashion show, thanks to the wireless helmets with which both, guests and models, have listened to music without external interference. In her new collection "Zona Norte", the designer combines in a contemporary key the traditional garments of Arabic clothing with others belonging to the brand’s universe: blue jeans, plaids or pinstripes. All the pieces are hand crafted according to traditional methods, faithful to the label’s signature of 100% hand-made. Accessories have a key role in the collection with 'XXL' sun hats and hats with layers that simulate veils.
OTEYZA, surprises with a spectacular staging in the DIMAD space of Matadero Madrid to present their new collection. A performance in two acts with male dancers from the National Ballet of Spain (BNE), who managed to fuse dance and fashion, which raised a great ovation from the guests at the fashion show. The director of the BNE, Antonio Najarro, and his team knew perfectly how to defend the garments of the ROOTS collection (Spanish capes, high-waisted trousers, espadrilles ...) with which they danced to the sound of castanets. A proposal for SS / 19 with suits of very marked lines, light fabrics (merino wool and linen) and wider jackets with buttons and pleats that provide more freedom of movement. All in a range of colours ranging from sand, beige, yellow and white for daytime, and another range of greenish blues and violet tones for the evening.
Fashion brand SCHLESSER, with their new creative director at the head, Daniel Rabaneda, presented the S/S 2019 collection in the environment of the Botanical Gardens. A new proposal based on the house’s signature tailor jacket, with masculine styled silhouettes composed of garments with straight line overlays, plays of pleats and subtle draperies that texture the materials. Wool is the natural fibre with which this collection is woven, complemented by other natural fibres such as linen, silk and cotton. Sobriety in the palette, with a base of navy, white and brown where the designer feels identified with the brand’s essence. The contrast is given by colour accents such as "cat eye", "golden orange" or "avocado".
