Gran Canaria Moda Cálida and ACME launch a new training program focused on artisanal and sustainable fashion

The Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), in collaboration with Gran Canaria Island Council, launches the 2025-2026 Gran Canaria Moda Cálida training program, an ambitious educational initiative that places artisanal, sustainable, and designer fashion at the center of tuition.

This new program includes practical workshops tutored by renowned designers and artisans such as Maya Hansen, Santi Carballo, Javier Martín Galán, Carmen González, Tamarcos, and Nuria González, and is specifically aimed at teachers and students from the island's educational centers.

The main objective is to bring traditional fashion crafts into the educational sphere, strengthening the link between creation, technique, and sustainability. From shaping and leatherwork to textile recycling and contemporary lingerie, participants will have direct access to essential methodologies and know-how of author design.

The workshops kick off in June with a leather goods workshop taught by Santi Carballo, followed by technical training in underwear by Carmen González (Gonzalez Underwear). In the fall, new offerings will be introduced, such as denim upcycling with Maya Hansen, footwear design with Tamarcos, shaping of sleeves with Javier Martín Galán, and artisanal swimwear with Nuria González.

The program will culminate in March 2026, consolidating Gran Canaria as a trailblazer specialized in creative as well as in technical training. This educational initiative seeks to foster innovation from the ground up, promoting active learning that is committed to cultural identity and sustainability.
