Hubert de Givenchy, Honorary Associate of ACME passes away

Hubert de Givenchy has passed away at 91 years of age, a master teacher for all of us who are part of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España. His deep passion for Spanish culture and for the legacy of Cristóbal Balenciaga made him a champion of the ACME Honorary Associate distinction in 2005, an acknowledgment he received during a visit to Madrid with his partner and closest collaborator: Philippe Venet.

His enormous generosity and his unblemished professional trajectory have turned him into one of the most admired personalities in the fashion world. From Spain we will always be grateful for all the support he has given us, feeling very proud of his passion for our culture, our fashion and our art.

Many designers have wished to express their sadness as well as their admiration for the figure of Givenchy, such as the Galician creator Roberto Verino. "His elegance, on the catwalks and in life, will always make us remember him with great respect and admiration," he declares.

Ion Fiz has also shown his sorrow in social networks. "He will always be part of my inspiration, an honour to have met him in San Sebastian and to have also met him in Madrid and Paris. Fashion has lost a genius. "

For Modesto Lomba, president of ACME, "A great teacher has left us, he made history in our sector. His kindness and enormous professionalism will always remain in our memory. I am very proud to have been able to share with him unforgettable moments in the Museo del Traje of Madrid and Getaria, since he was the Founding President of the Balenciaga Museum Foundation ".[:]
