Jorge Vázquez's journey to oriental Marrakech

Jorge Vázquez returns to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid with his 'ORIENTAL' collection, a journey to Marrakech in the 1960s inspired by personalities such as Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Berge, Talitha Getty, Paul Getty and Bill Willis. Orient’s seduction and luxury are the guiding thread of the designer's fashion proposals for next fall-winter.

Vázquez, attracted by the most seductive side of Marrakech dresses a woman wrapped in mysticism with certain hippie airs and reinterprets Saharan garments, places a stake on caftan coats with arabesque embroidery as well as geometric, ethnic and floral prints and imbues the more urban looks with the colouring of Moroccan sand and spices.

The Galician designer proposes loose and light silhouettes to dress a sophisticated woman with a retro air, the tunic being the collection’s star garment. Vázquez opts for very fluid fabrics represented through muslin, crepe de chine and tulle, as opposed to thick cloth coats, guipure or sequins for more structured pieces. The chromatic range of the Red City is reflected in earthy and acid colours such as orange, lime and fuchsia.

To complete his oriental proposal, the signature brand has created velvet sandals, patent leather pumps, as well as elegant rabbit felt turbans and hats in collaboration with milliner Conchitta.
