Forever, José Castro

19/06/2023

The demise of José Castro is extremely sad news for the Spanish fashion industry. The Galician creator leaves behind an admirable legacy that marked Spanish fashion in the 2000s along with other designers such as David Delfín.

In his long career in the textile sector, his work as creative director in renowned firms such as Miró Jeans or Desigual stands out, as well as his time at some of the great fashion events in the industry such as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid, 080 Barcelona or Paris Fashion Week. He was a member of the Fédération de la Couture et de la Mode, the only Spaniard who has been part of this select group along with Cristóbal Balenciaga or Paco Rabanne. He also highlighted his collaboration with Alexander McQueen during his time at Givenchy, of which he was a part after graduating from the renowned London Royal College of Art.

His clothes have dressed celebrities from Lady Gaga, Whoopi Goldberg, Beth Ditto, Paz Vega, to Sarah Jessica Parker in the movie Sex and the City.
