The Toledo School of Art celebrated on February 25th, with the participation of Modesto Lomba, the fifteenth edition of its Design Conference. The event brings together industry professionals and students in a program focused on a direct exchange of experiences.
Following the institutional welcome by Ana Mª Maqueda, Culture Coordinator for the Department of Culture and Sport, as well as the Mayor of Toledo, Carlos Velázquez Romo, Lomba opened the conference in conversation with illustrator Javi Cohen.
During the discussion, they reviewed the fashion designer’s forty-year career, his first steps in the industry, and the evolution of his creative process. Lomba also addressed his twenty-three years at the helm of ACME and the challenges currently facing independent fashion designers. He emphasized before the students the importance of consistent work and not being dazzled by immediate acclaim.
The session concluded with an open question-and-answer period in which students were able to speak directly with the designer.
The workshops continue until February 27th with further presentations and training activities at the Toledo School of Art . During these days, the classrooms fill with conversation and shared learning.
