Many professionals and personalities from the fashion sector supported personally the publication of this report, such as, Carmen Cárdeno, Director General of Internal Trade; Charo Izquierdo, Director of Mercedes-Benz; Ignacio Sierra, Corporate Director of the Cortefiel Group, and ACME designers: Dolores Cortés, Nicolás and Miguel Marinero, Francis Montesinos, Juan Duyos, Roberto Torretta, Alma Aguilar and Manuel de Gotor, among others.

In 2015, the brands that make up the Association obtained an aggregated turnover of over 405 million euros, which represented about 50% of the global turnover of specialized design in Spain. In total, companies from this sector (graphic design, fashion and others) obtained a turnover of 898 million euros during that year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The first edition of the report "Spanish fashion design, in figures". reveals in a pioneering manner these magnitudes, which state the important contribution of fashion design to the Spanish economy. The study, conducted with the collaboration of the editorial group Modaes.es, focuses on the design companies associated to ACME and aims to shed light on the economic dimension of these companies.

In this sense, ACME associates are a powerful platform for highly qualified job creation, generating almost 5,600 direct and indirect jobs in 2015. These companies accounted for more than 61.8% of the 9,026 total jobs linked to specialized design in the country during that year, according to INE data.

The report also highlights other magnitudes regarding the economic activity of fashion design companies. For example, ACME partners sell nearly nine million garments and complements through almost 10,000 local and global outlets and earn almost 18 million euros in licensing invoices. On the Internet, sales of independent design companies reached 3.1% of the total turnover, which equates over 12 million euros.

Modesto Lomba, President of ACME, assures that "the annual implementation of this report will help improve the knowledge of these companies and show, with hard figures, not only the contribution made to society beyond creativity and design, but also in terms of wealth creation and well-being. " "With this new study, Spanish fashion design is also provided with a useful tool to address the challenges ahead in a competitive environment that nonetheless is also one with many opportunities," he adds.

On her behalf Pepa Bueno, Executive Director of ACME, underlines "The exercise carried out by the members of the Association that have contributed to this project also represents a clear message in favour of transparency and the cooperation of a sector that must and wants to continue strengthening their business structure finding in ACME the instrument to help them achieve this.”
