Juan Duyos, new president of ACME

06/11/2025

The Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) has appointed Juan Duyos as its new president, as well as renewing its Board of Directors to usher in a new era focused on talent, sustainability, and the global projection of Spanish fashion design. Juan Duyos succeeds Modesto Lomba who has led the Association since 2002.

This change ensures institutional continuity and sets clear objectives: to strengthen author fashion as a cultural and economic driver and to consolidate ACME as a modern and collaborative organization at the service of its members. The team includes Juan Duyos (president), Ana Locking (vice president), Juan Vidal (secretary), Juanjo Oliva (treasurer), and, as Board Members, Israel L. Roca (Tous), Custo Dalmau, Ernesto Naranjo, Franx de Cristal and Xavi García (Acromatyx), Carlota Barrera, Miguel Becer (ManéMané), and Juana Martín.

“With the new team, we are embarking on a project with a very clear vision,” states Duyos, who emphasized the enthusiasm, energy, and collaborative work that builds upon the legacy of the outgoing Board. Executive director Pepa Bueno thanked Modesto Lomba for his work and highlighted a legacy that includes Madrid es Moda, the Fundación Academia de la Moda Española (FAME), the Strategic Plan for Author Fashion, and the strengthening of fashion’s institutional role in the cultural and economic spheres.

ACME currently comprises 93 designers from across Spain together with two partner institutions, and Amazon Fashion as a Benefactor. Founded in 1998 by Modesto Lomba, Jesús del Pozo, Elio Berhanyer, Antonio Pernas, Ángel Fernández Ovejero (Ángel Schlesser), and Roberto Verino, the Association works towards defending the interests of author fashion firms and promoting Spanish fashion in its creative, commercial, and cultural dimensions.

Duyos, who begins his presidency, is one of the most recognizable voices in Spanish fashion: he debuted in 1999 with an award-winning collection at Cibeles, has directed Don Algodon’s creativity, presented collections in international runways as well as developing licensing projects, collaborations, and institutional designs—such as the uniform for the Spanish Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020—further to his atelier works creating author fashion for wedding guests and bridal wear.

New stage, same purpose; Spanish author fashion continues to advance at ACME.
