Ernesto Naranjo Dresses the Waves

16/09/2026

Ernesto Naranjo presented his Spring/Summer 2027 collection, *Ondine*, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. The proposal envisions the dress as matter in motion, never static upon the body.

The collection stems from the concept of a body in constant motion, where neither the garment nor the pose are ever fully still. Naranjo finds his references in the perceptual explorations of Ann Veronica Janssens, the sculptural traces of Rachel Whiteread, and the relationship between body and gesture found in the work of Franz Erhard Walther. From here emerges an interpretation of the dress as a living experience.

A surrealist sensibility runs throughout the collection: sculptural brooches shaped like jellyfish and anemones cling to the garments as if growing spontaneously, blurring the boundaries between body, nature, and dress.

Organza, tulle, satin, and translucent fabrics create an atmosphere where transparency and volume coexist. Suspended layers, twists, pleats, and draping reveal the garments’ internal construction. Gravity acts upon the material; each silhouette shifts with the body, wearing it.

In *Ondine*movement arises from the cut, from the twists and the drapes that expose the construction of each garment.
