Madrid es Moda rewrites the meaning of Spanish author fashion

21/07/2022

Madrid es Moda, an initiative organized by the Asocación de Creadores de Moda de España thanks to the support of Madrid City Council’s platform Madrid Capital de Moda, confirms today the dates, and a part of the program for the forthcoming edition of MeM which is in charge of opening Madrid Fashion Week as well as completing the official schedule of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s fashion shows. From September 8th to 14th, Madrid es Moda will bring author fashion to all the capital’s corners through original events focused, on this occasion, on the new narratives that make up Spanish author fashion now and in the near future.

Acromatyx, Beatriz Peñalver, Carlota Barrera, Devota&Lomba, Dolores Cortés, Duarte, Eduardo Navarrete, Ernesto Naranjo, García Madrid, brands adhering to the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida program, Juan Vidal, Juanjo Oliva, Maison Mesa, Manémané, Malne, Marcos Luengo, María Lafuente, Miguel Marinero, Odette Álvarez, Oteyza, Otrura, Paloma Suárez, PDEPAOLA, Pilar Dalbat, Roberto Verino, See Iou, The 2nd Skin Co. and The Extreme Collection, among others, are the creators and brands that will be part of MeM’s calendar. New Spanish talents, the protagonists of one of the planned actions, will join them.

Continuing with the main objective of bringing author fashion close to the street, promoting its knowledge and boosting its sales, Madrid es Moda focuses its gaze in this edition on rewriting the meaning of clothing, while also valuing new ways of making, as well as consuming fashion. The next MeM edition invites you to discover the new voices in Spanish fashion. Fashion alive that designs for people, that is diverse, inclusive and expresses itself freely, in which young talents pick up the legacy of the great masters while respecting heritage and trades. Madrid es Moda will also showcase how designer fashion looks towards the future, uniting technology and craftsmanship in innovative proposals that investigate materials and new ways of making clothes that are more sustainable, aware of as well as committed to the environment.

Starting once again with a ground breaking inaugural event in the centre of Madrid on September 8th, of which all the details will be known soon, MeM will organize presentations of fashion collections in stores, ateliers, streets and other unexpected and special places in the city. Meet ups where the designers themselves will explain their proposals for the fall-winter 2022-2023 season; a unique format in Spain that brings together the city’s attractions with author fashion, thus allowing creators to interact with the public close-up in a creative manner.

Additionally, the Casa Madrid es Moda returns. The official headquarters of MeM will host a relevant number of activities as well as an exhibition space dedicated to the collections of the participating designers, an essential installation for all Spanish fashion’s followers that can be visited with free admission from September 10th to 13th.

MeM will also offer content aimed at the fashion industry’s professionals and specialized audiences within Madrid es Moda PRO by offering a complete and interesting panel of talks, presentations, workshops and meetings regarding sustainability and crafts. In this section, highlighted is the collaboration with a reference centre in fashion training such as is ELLE EDUCATION X MINDWAY, which will host its own talk program on September 14th. An alliance that will materialize in other new projects soon to be be announced.

KLARNA once again bets on Spanish designer fashion brands and renews as a partner of MeM. As a novelty, it will premiere a space at Casa Madrid es Moda with its own program aimed at a professional audience, in which relevant issues for the fashion sector will be addressed every afternoon. Klarna will also have a space called “shop the runway”, an original e-shop point where you can learn about on line shopping and access online purchases, payable in three instalments, of a careful selection of fashion designer’s garments.

Furthermore, during one of the conferences, the collaboration of MeM with UNOde50 will be presented being the project’s new global ambassador with whom an agreement has been reached that will result in a worldwide window shop for Spanish slow fashion.

GOLDWELL debuts as a partner of Madrid es Moda, its professionals will be in charge of designing the hairdressing of the looks presented by the designers. Also, NARS renews its collaboration with MeM to take care of this edition’s beauty looks, and will also count with the support of ESNE as a collaborator.

Madrid es Moda is a platform created in 2015 to integrate the entire Spanish fashion community, and that was transformed in 2020 thanks to the impulse of Madrid City Council through the Madrid Capital de Moda program. Madrid es Moda brings together brands with soul, personal proposals that are committed to a new luxury based on the importance of human capital, craftsmanship, local production, responsible consumption, quality, and the recovery of crafts and tradition. MeM is an active member of the Global Fashion Council, an international movement that reflects on how the fashion industry could and should work.
