María Lafuente, spelt’s imprint

09/09/2026

María Lafuente presented her Spring/Summer 2027 collection, IMPRONTA, at OMODA Madrid es Moda. The collection features twenty-five looks that blend denim, tulle, and handcrafted crochet. For the first time, the firm incorporated spelt straw marquetry into dresses, in collaboration with Objet Particulier.

IMPRONTA marks the end of twenty years of the firm’s history with a literal interpretation of the collection’s title: the imprint that an entity leaves over time. Its origin resides in Asturian spelt, a cereal cultivated in Asturias whose straw retains the earth’s color, sheen, and texture. Objet Particulier traditionally applies this marquetry to interior decoration and architecture; María Lafuente now transfers it to the body, in the firm’s first spelt straw dress, with the motif repeated as an appliqué in other designs.

The firm is also celebrating two decades of production in Spain, with its own network of workshops, artisans, and textile companies that resist the sector’s offshoring. For the past ten years, this network has been under the strategic direction of Floriana Mariscotti, head of SMART 5D.

IMPRONTA offers a wide-ranging wardrobe: dresses, trousers, coats, capes, jackets, sets, blouses, and bags, where structure is provided by denim, movement by bamboo and tulle, and volume and texture by handcrafted crochet. Textile research incorporates PYRATEX® and PEFC-certified TENCEL™ fabrics from Textil Santanderina, along with linen, cotton, lace, and tulle. The color palette: wheat, honey, bone, bamboo green, clay, and ink black, with pink, brown, red, and burgundy, and through cool tones points of light are opened. Hats by Nana Golmar and crochet work by Las Artesanas de Madrid complete the silhouettes, with footwear provided by De Flores y Floreros.

The spelt straw dress shifts an interior design technique towards clothing, with its own artisanal vocabulary, allowing the firm to explore beyond this collection.
