Custo Barcelona presented its SS26-27 collection, Unexpected, in three major fashion capitals: the rooftop of Rockefeller Center in New York (September 11th), Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (September 18th), and the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan (September 23rd).
Unexpected places at the heart of its creative narrative; identity, energy, and self-expression. Under Custo Dalmau’s direction, the firm revisits its signature aesthetic universe, where craftsmanship and innovation coexist with a contemporary, emotional perspective on fashion.
The color palette is a key element of the collection: pastel tones dominate, featuring soft earth tones and luminous highlights that add depth to every look. Translucent fabrics and shimmering effects reinforce this aesthetic, while voluminous sleeves, draping, and organic textures create silhouettes that are visually light, almost ethereal.
Women’s wear looks embody an ethereal yet architectural sensuality through fluid silhouettes and sheer fabrics, featuring constructions rich in artisanal detail. Dresses gain movement through ruffles and layered finishes, while lace and airy fabrics lend delicacy to each piece. Craftsmanship also defines the garment’s construction: patchwork, layering, and embroidery are integrated into pieces that blend geometric precision with textile sensitivity, transforming fashion into a vehicle for personal expression.
Spanning from the Rockefeller Center rooftop to Milan’s Da Vinci Museum, Unexpected has graced three international runways in less than two weeks, with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid acting as the tour’s intermediate stop.
