La Palma Fashion Week 2024 kicks off with local fashion, culture, sustainability and talent

The Cabildo of La Palma La Palma Fashion Week 2024, the Canary Island’s most important event in the textile and creative sector, took place from November 13th to 16th in various scenarios in the island. This event, organised by the Cabildo through Sodepal, within the framework of the Isla Bonita Moda program, brought together designers, stylists, and other professionals from the sector with the aim of promoting and giving visibility to the fashion made in La Palma.

The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, opened the day by highlighting the importance of this event since “it represents the talent, creativity and commitment of each person involved in our island’s textile and creative sector. From the Cabildo of La Palma and the Isla Bonita Moda programme, we are proud to promote this event that not only highlights our fashion, but also honours our values ​​and our identity.”

The Councillor for Economic Promotion and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, highlighted the growth of La Palma Fashion Week over the years and its positive impact on the local economy. She also stated that “this event has been a constant commitment by the Cabildo and Sodepal to ensure that La Palma has a first-class platform where our designers can showcase their work. This year, additionally, we have enjoyed the collaboration of Tenerife Moda, Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, Lanzarote Moda, Proexca, ACME and Adlib Ibiza, which reinforces the national and collaborative nature of this event.”

On the other hand, the director of the Isla Bonita Moda project, Andrés Acosta, highlighted the programme’s commitment to emerging talent as well as the role of La Palma Fashion Week as a space for training and promotion.

This edition of LPFW featured elite guests, additionally to designers from ACME; Modesto Lomba, Duyos, Helena Rohner and Pedro Palmas. These included, actress Hiba Abouk; Canarian top models Ariadne Artiles and Aida Artiles; actress and singer Nona Sobo; actress and singer Ane Rot; top model Marta Ortiz; presenter and communicator Lidia Torrent; photographer and DJ Pepino Marino, and Canarian content creators Minerva Hernández and Alex Mercurio.

The event kicked off with an opening ceremony that included the presentation of the aforementioned award, giving way to two days of fashion shows and activities. Palma Fashion Week 2024 was a celebration of local and regional fashion, with fashion shows, exhibitions and networking spaces where professionals and amateurs could learn close-up about fashion trends and the fashion art of La Palma.
