Carmen González Opens Her Atelier to Fashion Students

14/05/2026

Carmen González, creative director of Gonzales brand, welcomed to her atelier students from the Fashion Design degree program at Gran Canaria School of Art and Design for the first session of the 2026 training program promoted by Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, and the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME).

The session, held on May 12th, acted as a work meeting focused on craft, creative process, and the development of a designer fashion brand. The session was structured in two parts: firstly, a technical overview of atelier work, and secondly, dedicated to the designer’s professional career through her collection’s archive.

During the visit, the students were able to learn firsthand about lingerie making processes, materials, and the decisions inherent in atelier work. Gonzales’s proposal explores the relationship between body, skin, and power through an aesthetic linked to lingerie and sustainable production based on limited editions and made-to-order pieces.

The event also included a discussion regarding developing a collection as well as the challenges of establishing a brand in the contemporary fashion landscape.

The meet took place at Gonzales’s studio in Gran Canaria, as part of a program that will continue throughout the year.
