The Gran Canaria Moda Cálida program concluded its annual activities with a workshop led by designer Nuria González and focused on swimwear design, pattern making, and garment construction for teachers at IES La Minilla. This initiative is a part of a training program for specialized fashion education promoted by Gran Canaria Island’s Council and the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME).
The training took place over several days and addressed, from a practical perspective, the processes involved in creating a swimwear collection. Classroom work centered around basic garments such as the bodysuit, triangle top, and bikini bottoms, applying professional methodologies regarding pattern making and garment construction.
During the workshop, industry-specific materials and machinery were used, including bi-elastic lycra, elastic linings, and technical elastics. The approach combined an introduction to collection design with hands-on experimentation, allowing teachers to work with real-life examples and production procedures standards.
The activity brought to a close the training program developed throughout the year within Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, a project that continues its development with new proposals linked to the fashion trades and their specialized teaching.
