Oteyza, Premio de Cultura de la Comunidad de Madrid

La firma de moda masculina OTEYZA, fundada por Paul García de Oteyza y Caterina Pañeda, recogió ayer el Premio de Cultura de la Comunidad de Madrid en la categoría de Moda. La ceremonia, presidida por Isabel Díaz Ayuso, presidenta de la Comunidad de Madrid, tuvo lugar en el Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

Este reconocimiento, de carácter honorífico y sin dotación económica, se concede a personalidades, instituciones o entidades cuya labor haya incidido de manera relevante en la realidad sociocultural de la región. Así lo destacó Mariano de Paco, consejero de Cultura, Turismo y Deporte de la Comunidad de Madrid, durante la reunión del Consejo de Gobierno del pasado 25 de septiembre, fecha en la que se dieron a conocer los quince galardonados de esta edición.

“Estamos muy felices de recibir este premio tan prestigioso rodeados de estos grandísimos artistas a los que tanto admiramos. Es un privilegio y un honor que hoy se vea reconocida toda la creatividad, fuerza y sensibilidad que hemos puesto en romper los paradigmas y en abrir nuevos caminos de valor a la moda española. Tenemos que seguir avanzando para posicionarla donde se merece, en lo más alto del panorama internacional”, han declarado Paul García de Oteyza y Caterina Pañeda.

Este año la marca ha atravesado de forma pionera una nueva frontera, la que separa la moda de las artes escénicas, creando el espectáculo Merina, un homenaje a la lana merina a través de la disrupción de los códigos de la música electrónica, la danza y la moda. Una obra que han creado, dirigido y producido, constituyéndose en una entidad artística, y por la que obtuvieron seis nominaciones en los Premios Max de 2023 y una en la primera edición de los Premios Academia de la Moda Española como Mejor Presentación.

 

Oteyza, a Culture Award from the Community of Madrid

Men’s fashion brand OTEYZA, founded by Paul García de Oteyza and Caterina Pañeda, received yesterday the Culture Award in the Fashion category from the Community of Madrid. The ceremony, chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid, took place at the Teatro Auditorio of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

This recognition, of an honorary nature and without financial endowment, is awarded to personalities, institutions or entities whose work has had a relevant impact on the region’s sociocultural reality. This was highlighted by Mariano de Paco, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Community of Madrid, during the meeting with the Governing Council on September 25th, the date on which the fifteen winners of this edition were announced.

“We are very happy to receive this prestigious award surrounded by these great artists whom we admire so much. It is a privilege and an honour that today all the creativity, strength and sensitivity that we have placed into ground-breaking paradigms, while opening new paths of value for Spanish fashion, is recognised. We have to continue moving forward to position it where it deserves, at the top of the international scene”, declared Paul García de Oteyza and Caterina Pañeda.

This year the brand has pioneered a new frontier, the one that separates fashion from the performing arts by creating the Merina Show, a tribute to merino wool through the disruptive codes of electronic music, dance and fashion. A work they have created, directed and produced, becoming an artistic entity, and for which they obtained six nominations at the 2023 Max Awards and another during the first edition of the Fundación Academia de la Moda Española (FAME) for Best Presentation.
