The sea’s invisible thread

Isla Bonita Moda presented a collective collection “Agujas de Sal” (Salt Needles) at Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida, a textile tribute to the memory and the tradition of La Palma’s embroidery. The project, promoted by La Palma Island Council through Sodepal, reaffirms the island’s creative presence in Spain’s leading swimwear fashion runway.

The collection originates as a reflection on identity, emotion, and artisanal heritage. The needle symbolizes home and craft; salt, tears and life. Together, they evoke the sensitivity and resilience of La Palma, celebrating the value of handmade goods and the continuity between tradition and contemporary art. In this edition, eight brands—Adrienne, Alex Menorca, Atelier El Tesoro, Ban Artesanía en Cuero, Julia Brito, Rayco Plata, Sara Luis Joyas, and Shamelu—wove their visions together around a single idea: beauty that endures in the memory.

Indigo blue and white tones dominate a collection that reinterprets the ancient swan-like patterns and traditional embroideries of La Palma, translating them into the contemporary language of design. The pieces combine fluidity, precision, and a natural elegance, while jewelry and leather goods complete a calm and deeply rooted visual universe. The overall atmosphere exudes serenity, like an embroidery sketched across the sea’s horizon.

“Agujas de Sal” reaffirms Isla Bonita Moda’s commitment to creations that are sustainable with their own identity, where craftsmanship is projected into the future without losing sight of its origins.
