The 1st Professional Flamenco Fashion Congress, ‘Córdoba D Moda,’ brings together institutions, universities, designers, artisans, companies, and professionals from the fashion sector at the Palacio de la Merced, headquarters of Córdoba Provincial Council, as a part of the 30th anniversary of SIMOF (International Flamenco Fashion Show).
The event featured the participation of Pepa Bueno, Executive Director of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), in the roundtable discussion ‘Craftsmanship, Identity, and Value: What Makes Us Unique,’ moderated by Samary Fernández Feito, Business Director of El Español, along with Charo Izquierdo, Director of Magas magazine and fashion consultant.
The meeting, addressed from a professional perspective the present as well as the challenges of flamenco fashion, with special attention to craftsmanship, the protection of traditional trades, regional identity, and the need to generate knowledge regarding the sector.
One of the day’s highlights was the signing of an agreement between Pablo de Olavide University and the fashion and communications agency Doble Erre to create the Chair of Andalusian Fashion, the first university chair specifically dedicated to fashion and linked to a specific region in Spain. The initiative aims to promote applied research, academic analysis, and the development of strategic projects related to Andalusian fashion.
The congress, organized by Doble Erre as part of the anniversary celebrations of International Flamenco Fashion Week, brought together nearly 200 attendees and concluded with the SIMOF 30th Anniversary Gala at the Palacio de la Merced.
