ACME and San Fernando Royal Academy of fine arts sign a collaboration agreement

The Hall of Columns of Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (RABASF) hosted the signing of a collaboration agreement between the institution and the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME). An agreement that will materialize in different actions to broadcast, protect and develop Spanish fashion.

Among the initiatives to be jointly promoted one stands out; the fashion show that one of the fashion designers associated to ACME will organize annually within the Academy, Spain’s oldest cultural institution. An exclusive event in one of Madrid’s most emblematic spaces, where one of the most important art collections in our country is treasured. Created in 1752, the objective of RABASF is to promote artistic creativity, as well as the study, broadcasting and protection of the arts and cultural heritages. With this partnership, Spanish fashion, represented by ACME and its associated fashion designers, becomes one of the pieces of said cultural reference and gets closer to recognizing author fashion design as one of the Fine Arts.

“Throughout history, and in this last century, fashion has been relegated to the background within the arts because it is linked to a large industry, but creativity and Fine Arts are closely linked in author designer fashion. Fashion has helped socially and culturally to transform humanity at all stages. Through fashion we can learn about our history. This agreement with San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts is very important because it helps to place the creativity of designer fashion in its rightful place. It is one more step towards strengthening the position of Spanish fashion as a cultural heritage in our country,” states Modesto Lomba, president of ACME.

ACME and RABASF have collaborated throughout their professional paths on multiple projects. Recently, in February 2023, the Academy was the chosen setting for the opening of the inaugural event of Madrid es Moda.
