The wounded picture, by Pepa Bueno

08/06/2017

“I met him personally during an edition of the Madrid fashion shows. He did not show yet, but he had a small corner in the Cibelespacio where he sold his military styled t-shirts, applied bandages and quotes in German by Joseph Beuys. I approached him timidly to talk to him because I also shared his admiration for the conceptual artist, and I must admit that I was surprised to find in this environment someone who knew a not so popular artist. This is not the first time he did. His work has always navigated unexplored terrains and has gone in search of new expressive territories to take fashion beyond the outfit. One of those t-shirts has always been with me, and now that I have changed size – many years have passed and you know, we do grow in width – this garment has come with me as a picture to ACME headquarters. “Show your wounds,” it says, and that I do now, show the wound that has been left by his early demise.
