On August 27th, at the Caudal Business Center in Mieres (Asturias), began the Technological Advancement Training Program in High-End Designer Fashion Crafts, also known as Designer Couture. Promoted by SODECO, HUNOSA Empresas, and the Foundation Caja Rural de Asturias, with the collaboration of the Foundation Academia de la Moda Española (FAME) and the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), it is the first project with national scope framed within the Ministry of Culture’s Lineas Estratégicas de Diseño de Autor (LEMA)
Eight artisans and designers will participate in a 165-hour training program, which runs for three months until November 27th and is led by Héctor Jareño Amieva, a LEMA Commissioner. The practical classes—pattern making, cutting, sewing, embroidery, and furrier work—are taught by Lola Piña, who began her career in 1986 alongside Manuel Piña and who has also worked for Sybilla, among others. Furthermore, the program includes content on brand development, financing, and marketing, as well as masterclasses, visits to companies in the sector, and networking events.
Official sponsors include local suppliers such as El Tallerín de Lolo, Madrid-based tailor La Confianza, and fashion brand Dolores Promesas.
The high number of applications received, opens the door to a second edition in 2027 and the possibility of a High-End Designer Fashion Crafts Technology Center in Asturias, which is one of the initiatives included in LEMA.
