The Advanced Craftsmanship Program for Designer Fashion has opened its application period to train professionals specializing in haute couture processes. The initiative is promoted by SODECO, HUNOSA Empresas, and the Foundation Caja Rural de Asturias, in collaboration with the Fundación Academia de la Moda Española and the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España.
The program addresses a need identified by the Spanish fashion designer sector: Access to a skilled workforce capable of integrating into the fashion houses’ development and production teams. This objective is part of the Strategic Guidelines for Designer Fashion, promoted by the General State Administration’s Working Group for Designer Fashion within the Ministry of Culture.
Directed by Héctor Jareño Amieva, LEMA Commissioner, the course offers intensive, hands-on training in areas such as pattern making, cutting, sewing, embroidery, and furrier work. The technical component will be taught by Lola Piña, a leading figure in Spanish designer fashion, and will be complemented by content related to brand development, financing, and marketing.
The training will take place between August 27th and November 27th, 2026. For three months, students will also participate in masterclasses with designers, educational visits to companies in the sector, and professional networking events.
“This program represents a specific step towards the development of the Strategic Guidelines for Designer Fashion. FAME and ACME have long emphasized the need to train specialized technical professionals who can then join ateliers and support brands in their creative and production processes. Preserving traditional crafts also means updating them, passing them on, and connecting them with the future of Spanish designer fashion,” stated Juan Duyos, President of both institutions.
The application period is open from May 27th to June 27th, 2026. Applicants must demonstrate prior experience or training in sewing, crafts, or fashion, and submit a portfolio and a cover letter. All information is available at www.costuradeautor.com.
