The Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) hosted the launch of the book Jesús del Pozo (1946-2011) that pays tribute to one of the pioneering figures of Spanish fashion and the first President of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España.
“Jesus dressed women and their dreams,” so describes Maria Eugenia Alberti, editor of the book, the protagonist of this story. A book result of the affection of those who best knew him and those that shared their life with this fighter, “because behind every challenge was beauty.” Jesús del Pozo (1946-2011) reflects the legacy of “one of the creators of style of the new Spain when democracy was born […] he will also be a pioneer in glimpsing the new value of youth, the dynamics and the need for freedom in dress “in the words of Margarita Rivière, a summary of the importance of the work of Jesús del Pozo until the end of his days.
A journey of 240-pages through his style, his fabrics, his shapes and his way of understanding colour because, as stated by Silvia Alexandrowitch, “dusty, shaded, dirty or watery, mineral, vegetable or cosmic, none of these adjectives, so common to the language of fashion and so repeated by the press […] can explain the colours of Jesús del Pozo. ”
A tribute book created with the contributions from people who best knew him: employees, customers, friends and personalities from the world of fashion such as Vicente Verdú, Juan Gatti, Toni Miró, Sofía Torga, Margarita Riviere, Renée López de Haro, Silvia Alexandrowitch, Luis Casablanca, Javier Vallhonrat, Alberto Campo Baeza, Emilio Sagi, Salvador Mateu and Lola Gavarrón. Also included are testimonies of people like Manuel Pertegaz, Enrique Loewe, Ana Belen, Iñaki Gabilondo, Violeta Sanchez, Pilar del Castillo, Elena Ochoa, Amaia Ubiria and Cristina Marsans.[:]
