The Embassy of Thailand in Spain together with the Embassy of Spain in Thailand, have created the SPANISH-THAI FASHION AWARD awards, with the support of ACME and the endorsement of Support Foundation, chaired by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand. These awards arise with the aim of establishing a dialogue between Spanish fashion and Thai silk, thus strengthening cultural relations between the two countries.
After the call held in our country, in which more than 400 designers participated, the three finalists presented their proposals at a large event at the Thai embassy in Madrid. Moisés Castañeyra, Lina Saw and David de Calle were the three designers participating in the final, in which they presented fashion proposals for intercultural fusion, in which Thai natural silk was the absolute protagonist. The association Lal La Buya, made up by women in a situation of vulnerability from the city of Melilla, has been responsible for making the finalist designers collections.
A jury of experts, made up by Modesto Lomba, President of ACME; Daniel Rabaneda, Creative Director of Ángel Schlesser, and Pepa Bueno, Executive Director of ACME, among others, proclaimed David de Calle winner. The designer will participate in the Thai Silk Road to the World, an exclusive event that takes place in Thailand with the aim of broadcasting Thai silk all over the world. Additionally, the Madrid designer will be able to show his collection at Thailand Fashion Week, which will be held next November in Bangkok.
