Flight as Origin, Teresa Helbig

Thirty years ago, a feathered dress marked the beginning of Teresa Helbig’s fashion brand. Today, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the designer presented a collection inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Wild Swans,” revisiting that idea of transformation and resilience through an assertive femininity.

The swan’s story serves as a guiding thread. Delicacy and strength coexist in the same silhouette, and just as in the tale, fragility is also determination. The collection activates this imagery with a construction that prioritizes movement and lightness, as if each look seeks to linger a few seconds longer in the air.

On the runway, lightweight chiffons unfold into flowing dresses and capes that accompany the wearer’s stride. Satin ribbons adorn bodies and sleeves with an almost choreographed gesture, while embroidered beads capture the light on surfaces crafted with artisanal precision. The palette shifts between gray blue, pale pink, and ecru tones, creating an atmosphere that is both restrained and luminous.

Today, that initial gesture reappears, filtered through experience and skill. The flight continues, sustained by memory and technique.
