Iberia chooses Teresa Helbig to design its new uniforms

19/07/2018

ACME creator, Teresa Helbig has been selected to create the new uniformity of Iberia with a sober and functional proposal, which represents a natural balance between the signs of identity of the company and the new image of the airline.

The designer draws from couture and classic tailoring, which are her strengths, to create light, neat, modern designs that are not anchored to current trends to last over time.

With navy blue as the predominant colour, embodying balance and professionalism, the garments introduce red and yellow, the identifying colours of the company, along with natural, in the details, that appear and disappear with movement in a delicate way and are set in strategic places (neckline, cuffs, back), with gross grain winks that provide visual richness. Fabrics such as cold wool or poplin make up the garments wagering on qualities such as versatility, resistance, flexibility or softness.

Iberia convened in the last edition of Mercedes Benz Madrid Fashion Week a competition to find the designer of their new uniforms, for male and female flight and ground staff. The final result of this design will be presented in the next edition of MBFWM and starting next January 2019 they will begin to be added to the company. With this new project, Iberia wants to highlight its renewed and current image, as well as underlining its commitment to Spanish fashion, betting on the talent of creators of our country.

Luis Gallego, President of Iberia, stressed “this uniform will be worn by 6,500 employees and it partly symbolizes the beginning of a stage in Iberia towards excellence. For this important change, we bet again on Spanish design and the good work of Teresa Helbig, who has responded to the needs of Iberia with a very elegant proposal that we hope will please our employees “.

For her part, Teresa Helbig commented that “Iberia is a challenge for us and in which we are preceded by designers whom we admire. We have created our proposal from emotion, because flying and design are very similar: both are about materializing dreams. We do not think in terms of uniforms, but in garments that, besides being comfortable and functional, are flattering and maintain their style and elegance over the years and, above all, that the professionals who wear our uniforms feel themselves and are proud to represent Iberia in all parts of the world. ”

This project is also a great international showcase for the work of one of the Spanish designers of reference in local and global red carpets, as it will dress thousands of professionals and will be present in 88 airports in 39 countries on 4 continents.

Teresa Helbig began her career in the world of fashion through window dressing. She presented her first collections on the 080 runway in Barcelona and debuted at Madrid Fashion Week in 2010. The knowledge acquired in her mother’s haute couture atelier characterizes her creations, in which she reveals her passion for detail and craftsmanship. Her collections, a mix of prêt-à-porter and haute couture, are made entirely in her atelier in Barcelona, in which the Catalan designer controls all the exquisite production process.[:]
