“The feminine seams of Spanish fashion” is extended until April 28th

19/03/2019

After receiving the visit of more than 9,000 people since its opening on January 23rd, “The feminine seams of Spanish fashion (1930-2018)” extends its term in the National Museum of Decorative Arts, and may be visited until the 28th of April. This exhibition, which opened within the urban fashion festival “Madrid es Moda”, and was included in the calendar of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, was scheduled to end at the end of March, however, due to the public’s good reception, the museum’s management has decided to extend the closing date.

The exhibition, an idea by EFE Agency and the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), is produced together with the National Museum of Decorative Arts, and combines photojournalism, fashion and women through eighty photographs taken over nine decades by EFE’s photographers, the first news agency in Spanish and fourth in the world, establishing a visual dialogue with garments and jewellery by twenty-seven Spanish fashion creators. “The feminine seams of Spanish fashion (1930-2018)” is curated by Pepa Bueno, Executive Director of ACME, and Lourdes Álvarez Esmorís, Director of EFE Estilo and Director of Communication and Institutional Relations at EFE.

EFE’s photographic collections (twelve million photographs in the historical archive and eight million in the digital record) from glass plates, negatives or slides, showcase each period of Spain’s fashions, captured instantly and without artifice, according to the tempo and the photojournalistic vision, through models, artists or personalities from different fields, who dressed the feminine revolution. After diving into the EFE archives, the curators have selected for this exhibit a total of 80 photographs that are accompanied by 25 creations by contemporary fashion designers, two cabinets with jewels and a video projection with more than a hundred images that reflect Spain’s fashion during the last 88 years.
