Las Letras Street, the exclusive route

The collective  Las Letras Street opened its doors to MADRID ES MODA’s program for the first time, sponsoring an exhibit related to the world of ethical and sustainable fashion by IED Madrid students.

Las Letras Street is a collective made up of author spaces in the Barrio de Las Letras, having as common denominator high-end shops with a specially chosen selection of products, and whose owners personally attend the public. This platform has been grouped with the aim of generating activities that energize Las Letras as a unique destination in Madrid regarding shopping, design, art and gastronomy. As a reference in the taste for avant-garde, design, responsible consumption, sustainability and communication, the platform has become in this edition of the festival an ally and a luxury setting for an action linked to IED Madrid. within the umbrella of MADRID ES MODA.

In this activity, the students of 1º of Superior Title in Fashion Design of this college, have had the opportunity to present their creations for the pedagogical project “Zara, Creative & Ethic”, developed as a fashion line aimed at a young audience.

The young talents, who had already faced the challenge of designing this fashion and accessories collection made up from Zara’s unsold clothes, have had to execute a staging of their looks by exhibiting them in window shops, boutiques and restaurants in Las Letras Street. The businesses that participate in this initiative are:

Additionally, the boutiques of Ulises MéridaCalzados Franjul y Capas Seseña also members of the collective, participate in a common initiative with “three-tier windows”, anticipating the synergy that the three have developed with a view to the collection that the designer will present on Saturday 27th at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, under which Ulises Mérida will incorporate some capes by Seseña and Franjul footwear interpreted by him, exclusively for this collection. This is why, as a wink that anticipates the surprise, the three shops have teamed up to show the tip of the iceberg of this collaboration, housing elements by the three brands in each of their window shops.

All the window shops and montages of Las Letras Street will compete in the novel category of the window shop contest. While the team of Nebrija University concentrated its efforts on Ulises Mérida, the students of the ESNE school took charge of the staging of Franjul and Seseña.

To finish off the route of Las Letras Street, on Sunday 28th, from 12:00 to 14:00 h, the workshop “Introduction to machine sewing and ¡customize your jeans!” Will be held at Teté Cafécostura, with a practical exercise to customize your preferred jeans. This workshop is free prior registration. Not to be missed!
