In total, 37 outstanding personalities and cultural entities from the artistic and cultural creation field, or those that have provided notable services in the promotion, development or broadcasting of art and culture or in the conservation of artistic heritage, received this award in its 2024 edition.
Designer Modesto Lomba, from the city of Vitoria, received the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts. Modesto Lomba is the most outstanding designer from Vitoria. He was born in 1962 and is one of the great Spanish creators of haute couture as well as ready-to-wear.

His projects also include scenic costume design for dance and theatre, such as that of the Mediterránea National Lyric Ballet, choreographed by Nacho Duato; the ballet ‘Poeta’, directed by Aida Gómez; or the play ‘Arte’, directed by Josep Maria Flotats.
In 1988 he founded together with other fashion designers of his generation, the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), which he has chaired since 2000.
