Odette Álvarez presented her Fall/Winter 26/27 collection, SWING, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. The collection explores the interplay between past and present, translating the free spirit of the Roaring Twenties into a contemporary, conscious, and assertive femininity. Handcrafted luxury and bohemian flair, the houses’s signature hallmarks, set the tone from the very first look.
The collection takes the imagery of swing as its starting point and situates it in a vibrant, nocturnal New York, imbued with cinematic glamour. Art Deco influences appear in embroidery and geometric appliqués that coexist with Indo-Oriental ornamentation, a recognizable signature of the fashion brand. This blend constructs a narrative where nostalgia serves as a creative impetus rather than a literal reference.
On the runway, dropped-hip silhouettes and fluid lines liberate the body and generate movement. The volumes unfold amidst brocades, jacquards, and velvets, combined with chiffons, silks embroidered on velvet, lurex, or muslin, which lend lightness. The palette ranges from dark tones and gold, to warm hues and powdery shades. Feathers, subtle fringes, beading, and dramatic collars intensify the texture and accompany every gesture, reinforcing the idea of constant rhythm.
SWING moves between memory and the dance floor, finding its own energy in this ebb and flow.
