The Wool Alliance was presented today at the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, as a part of the Madrid Design Festival program. Her Majesty the Queen attended the event in a design by OTEYZA.
The initiative is structured as a platform that brings together professionals from the primary sector: companies, designers, brands, and institutions, with the aim of promoting a wool revival through design and industry. The proposal situates said material at the heart of a shared framework that connects countryside, production, and contemporary creation.
During the presentation, one of the Alliance’s first projects, “Metamorphosis,” was unveiled. Currently working with six flocks and more than 1,400 sheep in different regions, it analyzes their impact on the soil and biodiversity, as well as their influence on rural economies.
The project incorporates geolocation and traceability systems for wool, from shearing to the final product, using criteria linked to animal welfare and responsible trade.
In a session held at the headquarters of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, a meet took place, bringing together representatives from a range of sectors of the wool value chain. Today’s discussions focused on wool, territory, and production.
