As part of OMODA Madrid es Moda, Paloma Suárez hosted an open meeting at Club Financiero Génova, bringing together the fashion designer with Tenerife artisans Antonio Rodríguez Ruiz, Nathalie Leturcq and Marisol Ramos. The conversation was structured as a space for exchange between contemporary design and traditional knowledge, highlighting the cultural and the technical value of the crafts.
The discussion focused on the transmission of knowledge as well as the enduring relevance of artisanal techniques in contemporary fashion. Drawing from their own experiences, the participants shared processes, working schedules, and the relationship with the materials that define each trade. The conversation addressed both the technical as well as the symbolic dimensions of these crafts, where manual skills build a territorial sense.
The event was accompanied by a small exhibit of traditional Tenerife artisanal techniques, offering a glimpse into the tools, materials, and current working methodologies. A context that showcases the research that Paloma Suárez is currently developing regarding integrating this knowledge into her own creative process.
Here, between conversation and object, fashion emerges as a space of continuity for crafts.
