Pilar Dalbat presents Fashion & Heritage in Motion at the Málaga Automobile and Fashion Museum, an exhibit conceived specifically for this space and produced in collaboration with the Caja Rural Granada Foundation.
The exhibition brings together nearly thirty pieces from the fashion brand’s archives and the museum’s historical collections. The exhibition juxtaposes Pilar Dalbat’s creations with original pieces by Mariano Fortuny, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, John Galliano, Paco Rabanne, Manuel Pertegaz, and Jean Patou.
The museum’s main hall has been transformed by the designer’s studio with five-meter-high natural cotton canvases, suspended in space, acting as a backdrop for the texts and images that accompany the garments.
Fashion & Heritage in Motion offers an interpretation of fashion through the lens of heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary creation. The exhibit draws from Pilar Dalbat’s archive placing it in dialogue with some fashion history’s major figures, exploring aesthetics and technical affinities between different generations of designers.
The presentation was attended by representatives from the institutional, cultural, and fashion industry sectors, including the Minister of Culture and Sport of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Patricia del Pozo; the Territorial Delegate for Culture, Tourism, and Sport in Málaga, Carlos García; the co-directors of the Málaga Automobile and Fashion Museum, Mar González Mora and Elvira Carrera García; the Director of the Málaga and Cádiz Area for Caja Rural, Sergio González Arrabal; and ACME’S Executive Director and Vice President of the Spanish Fashion Academy, Pepa Bueno.
Founded by Pilar Torrecillas in Granada over fifteen years ago, Pilar Dalbat has developed a career closely linked to designer fashion, architecture, heritage, and Andalusia’s cultural landscape. The fashion brand features regularly at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid and is a member of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España.
The exhibit may be visited until August 30th at the Automobile and Fashion Museum in Málaga.
